The “Step Up and Speak Out” Project targets underage drinking and other drug use in Caroline County.
The project supports prevention through a media campaign developed with high school and middle school students focused on educating and increasing awareness among youth through billboards, banners, newspaper ads, TV ads, radio ads and video.
Students involved in this program have made the decision to be free of tobacco, alcohol, and drugs; and want to be a part of creating a prevention campaign about underage drinking for their peers. Students learn about substance abuse and choose how they want to create a message to their peers, parents, other adults or the whole community. Students are encouraged to be creative and design and produce their own media to be distributed in the community.
